Streamlining Manufacturing Processes with a Cutting-Edge HMI Solution

Objective

To enhance manufacturing efficiency and accuracy, OIya Technology, a NSW-based manufacturing company, sought our expertise in creating a user-friendly human-machine interface (HMI) for their equipment, enabling real-time operator interaction.

Solution:

Our team proposed using the MQTT protocol and the MQTT.js library to build the HMI. MQTT is a lightweight messaging protocol that is ideal for machine-to-machine communication, and MQTT.js is a JavaScript library for working with MQTT that is easy to use.

Our team first set up a MQTT broker to handle the communication between the equipment and the HMI. We then created a user-friendly interface using JavaScript and the MQTT.js library. The interface allowed operators to view real-time data from the equipment, such as current production rates, and to make adjustments to the equipment, such as changing the production speed.

We also added a feature to allow operators to view the historical data of the equipment, such as total production and downtime, to help them identify patterns and improve the efficiency of the manufacturing process.

Results:

The human-machine interface was successfully deployed and the client was very pleased with the results. The operators were able to interact with the equipment in real-time, which improved the efficiency and accuracy of the manufacturing process. The use of MQTT and the MQTT.js library allowed for easy and reliable communication between the equipment and the HMI. The client was also able to view the historical data of the equipment which helped them improve their production process.

This project was a great example of how a software development agency can use the latest technologies to create a powerful and efficient HMI for a client.
